Welcome to Education Voters of Ohio!

One recent national poll found that 97% of Americans agree that all children have a right to an excellent education.

This nation values the core principles of justice, fairness and the idea that all children should start on a level playing field; where through hard work and dedication, the American Dream may be realized by anyone. Unfortunately for many in Ohio, that dream is being denied.

The Supreme Court of Ohio has ruled on four occasions that the method by which Ohio funds its public schools is unconstitutional. Vast discrepancies in resources and the quality of education exist among the state’s 614 school districts. Gaps persist in the levels of academic achievement between white and minority students. And performance among Ohio students on national tests of reading and math proficiency is dismal.

Education Voters of Ohio is committed to restoring the Ohio’s Constitution’s promise to “secure a thorough and efficient system of common schools throughout the state”. For far too long, many of our elected officials have not been held accountable for their failure to restructure our public school system so that it is equitable, effective and meeting the unique needs of all of Ohio’s children. With your help, Education Voters of Ohio will raise the level of demand for great schools. We will accomplish this through developing strategic partnerships with other interested organizations, educating concerned citizens on how to effect change to improve their local schools, holding elected officials accountable for their actions, and by providing well-researched policy proposals to those individuals responsible for Ohio’s system of public education.

I hope that you will join our cause to help all Ohio children have an equal opportunity to receive an excellent education as a foundation to achieve their dreams. With your help, we will create a public school system in Ohio that is the best in the nation and one that prepares our students for success in the 21st century. Together, our work to improve our schools will ensure a bright future for the state of Ohio.

Sincerely,

Julian Rogers
OH Executive Director
